Regina Caeli specialist hospital and maternity was established in 1981 by Most Rev. Dr. A.K Obiefuna (late), the then catholic bishop of Awka diocese, who later became emeritus Arch-bishop of Onitsha. The hospital began services on the 6th day of November 1981, after being commissioned by the then commissioner of health in Anambra state.
The hospital initially started as a maternity but overtime, transformed into a full-fledged hospital and later was elevated to a specialist hospital in 2014 under the administration of Rev. Father Patrick Onuegbu, who happens to be its first administrator to run its affairs under the title ‘Manager’. He also acquired its certificate of incorporation and an RC number. The current manager of the hospital is Rev. Father Innocent Affusim, who assumed office in October 2022, and who has continued to champion the non-stop massive growth and development seen in the hospital today. Under the administration of Rev. Fr. Affusim Innocent, the hospital reviewed its motto to “Your health, Our pride!”
Currently, Regina Caeli specialist hospital is the second most important hospital health center in Awka metropolis after Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu teaching Hospital. The hospital is over 80 bedded hospital with assorted modern medical and surgical equipment’s for the smooth running of its oppressions. It currently offers the services of internal medicine, dialysis, laboratory, x-ray and ultrasound, physiotherapy, accident and emergency, urology, ENT, ECCG, T.B Dot, Eye care, dental, HCT, Basic children immunization, ANC (antenatal/Postnatal), Orthopedic, Pediatric, Mortuary, Ambulance, and others. POS system and online/transfer payments are available for our patients comfort. The services rendered by the hospital are on a 24-hour and 7-day bases. The hospital has over 200 workers on its staff establishment list, with a Hospital Manager, Assistant Hospital Manager, and one priest Chaplain.
